Understanding the Cisco Unified IP Phones 7906G and 7911G Chapter 1 An Overview of the Cisco Unified IP Phone Understanding the Cisco Unified IP Phones 7906G and 7911G The Cisco Unified IP Phones 7906G and 7911G are basic IP phone designed for cubicles, classrooms, factory floors, warehouses, lobbies, and any other location where the phone either complements the user's set of communication devices or is seldom used. The Cisco Unified IP Phones 7906G and 7911G: • Provides a graphical display with dynamic softkeys, icons, and scrollable directories for easy access to a core set of business features • Supports up to six calls on one directory number • Supports inline power for both Cisco inline power or IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet • Supports enhanced security features including: - Manufacturing and field installable certificates - Secure Media and Signaling - Authenticated Configuration • Supports enhanced calling features plus audio and text XML applications • Includes an integrated 10/100 Mbit Ethernet switch for connecting a PC, thereby preserving the advantage of one cable pull per location (applies to Cisco Unified IP Phone 7911G only) Figure 1-1 shows the main components of the Cisco Unified IP Phones 7906G and 7911G.
