Page 51 highlights

6 chapter WORKING WITH REMOVABLE DRIVES This chapter describes how to remove, insert, and care for removable drives and how to change the factory-default boot order. The computer has one hard drive bay that supports a removable hard drive and one MultiBay that supports a diskette drive, CD-ROM drive, or second hard drive. The hard drive in the hard drive bay when the computer is purchased is partitioned into two or more logical drives, depending on the size of the hard drive. All the preinstalled software is in the primary partition, drive C. The diskette drive in the MultiBay when the computer is purchased accepts 3.5-inch diskettes with the following formats: 1.44 MB, 720 KB, or 1.2 MB (Japanese format). The 20X Max CD-ROM drive included with CD-ROM drive models accepts both 8-cm and 12-cm CD media and supports the following formats: ISO-9660, CD-XA, Photo CD, Video CD, CD-DA, and CD-I. NOTE: To remove the hard drive from the hard drive bay, as described in this chapter, you will need a Torx T-8 screwdriver to remove the factory-installed security plate. If you want to replace the factory-installed security plate with the tamper-resistant security plate, see Chapter 14, "Security Features." Working with Removable Drives 6-1

This chapter describes how to remove, insert, and care for
removable drives and how to change the factory-default boot
order.
The computer has one hard drive bay that supports a removable
hard drive and one MultiBay that supports a diskette drive,
CD-ROM drive, or second hard drive.
The hard drive in the hard drive bay when the computer is
purchased is partitioned into two or more logical drives,
depending on the size of the hard drive. All the preinstalled
software is in the primary partition, drive C.
The diskette drive in the MultiBay when the computer is
purchased accepts 3.5-inch diskettes with the following formats:
1.44 MB, 720 KB, or 1.2 MB (Japanese format).
The 20X Max CD-ROM drive included with CD-ROM drive
models accepts both 8-cm and 12-cm CD media and supports the
following formats: ISO-9660, CD-XA, Photo CD, Video CD,
CD-DA, and CD-I.
NOTE:
To remove the hard drive from the hard drive bay, as
described in this chapter, you will need a Torx T-8 screwdriver to
remove the factory-installed security plate. If you want to replace
the factory-installed security plate with the tamper-resistant
security plate, see Chapter 14, “Security Features.”
