10 chapter USING PC CARDS PC Cards (PCMCIA) are credit card-sized options that you can quickly insert to perform various tasks and remove when not needed. A few of the PC Card options available are fax/modems, network cards, hard drives, and memory. PC Cards are available in three types: Type I, Type II, and Type III. They are all about the same length and width, but vary in thickness. Type III is the thickest, at less than one-half inch (10.5 mm). Supported PC Cards The computer has two PC Card slots that support CardBus/32-bit and 16-bit PC Cards. Two Type I and/or Type II cards are supported, or one Type III or Zoomed Video card is supported. A Type III or Zoomed Video card is supported in the bottom slot only. A telephony card is supported in the top slot only. NOTE: The Compaq PC Card Solutions List includes compatible CardBus and Zoomed Video cards and the operating systems with which those cards work.
