Inserting a Hard Drive into the Hard Drive Bay IMPORTANT: Before handling a removable drive, be sure you have read the cautions under "Caring for Removable Drives" earlier in this chapter. To insert a hard drive into the hard drive bay: 1. If the computer is on, shut it down. 2. If the hard drive security plate is installed, turn the computer upside down and remove the security plate. Then turn the computer right side up. 3. Open the hard drive door by sliding the door latch down and pulling the door open. 4. With the connector near the lower edge of the drive facing in and the hard drive tab facing out, insert the drive into the hard drive bay until it clicks into place. Inserting a Hard Drive into the Hard Drive Bay
IMPORTANT:
Before handling a removable drive, be sure you have
read the cautions under “Caring for Removable Drives” earlier in
this chapter.
To insert a hard drive into the hard drive bay:
1. If the computer is on, shut it down.
2. If the hard drive security plate is installed, turn the computer
upside down and remove the security plate. Then turn the
computer right side up.
3. Open the hard drive door by sliding the door latch down and
pulling the door open.
4. With the connector near the lower edge of the drive facing in
and the hard drive tab facing out, insert the drive into the hard
drive bay until it clicks into place.

5. Tuck the hard drive tab inside the hard drive door as you close
the door.
