9 chapter USING THE INFRARED PORT The IrDA-compliant infrared port on the rear of the computer provides for cable-free communication with other IrDA-compliant computers and printers. The infrared port supports both highspeed connections up to 4 megabits per second (Mbps) and lowspeed connections up to 115 kilobits per second (Kbps). NOTE: Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 4.0 does not include infrared communications capability. An infrared port sends an invisible beam of infrared light for point-to-point communication with another infrared port.
