Connecting the Modem to a Cellular Phone (Available Only in North America) In North America, the modem can used with a cellular phone that is compatible with the modem. Refer to the online Modem Help for a list of compatible cellular phones and associated Compaq cellular phone cables. (Contact a cellular carrier in your area for cellular air time.) CAUTION: Using the wrong cable could cause permanent damage to the modem. Contact your Compaq authorized dealer, reseller, or service provider for information about purchasing a cellular cable designed for this modem. To connect the modem to a compatible cellular phone in North America: 1. With the computer turned off, plug the cellular phone cable into the 25-pin connector 1 on the right side of the computer. 2. Turn on the computer. 3. Insert the opposite end of the cellular phone cable into the cellular phone 2. (Size and shape of the connector varies depending on the cellular phone manufacturer.) 4. In North America, the modem can used with a cellular phone that
is compatible with the modem. Refer to the online Modem Help
for a list of compatible cellular phones and associated Compaq
cellular phone cables. (Contact a cellular carrier in your area for
