NOTE: If the SAS back-end I/O module is powered on without any cables inserted, it is automatically set at x4 and cannot be used for x8 lane cabling. Locating a slot for a new I/O module About this task Locate the slot with the I/O filler module that you want to replace with the new I/O module. Remove a filler I/O module Steps 1. Pull the trigger mechanism on the filler I/O module handle to release it. 2. Gently pull the filler module from the slot. Install a new I/O module Steps 1. Align the module with the empty slot and carefully push the module into the slot. Figure 68. Installing an I/O module 2. When the I/O module appears seated, push and release the small button on the handle. ● If the button remains in, the module is fully seated. ● If the button springs back, gently push the module further into the chassis, then push it again. ● If the button still does not rest flush with its handle, remove the module and repeat steps 1 and 2.
