Usage Guidelines To enable BPDU Guard by default, you must do the following: • Configure the interface as spanning tree edge ports by entering the spanning-tree port type edge or the spanning-tree port type edge default command. • Enable BPDU Guard. Use this command to enable BPDU Guard globally on all spanning tree edge ports. BPDU Guard disables a port if it receives a BPDU. Global BPDU Guard is applied only on spanning tree edge ports. You can also enable BPDU Guard per interface; see spanning-tree bpduguard command for more information. Note We recommend that you enable BPDU Guard on all spanning tree edge ports.
