12.8 Specifying the encryption passphrase by the user 12 12.8 Specifying the encryption passphrase by the user The machine and the printer driver communicate with each other by encrypting a user password, account password or secure document password using a common encryption key. Although an encryption passphrase for generating the common encryption key is preset as a default setting, it can also be generated with a user-defined encryption passphrase. To specify a user-defined encryption passphrase, specify the same encryption passphrase both for the machine and the printer driver. Reference - If different values are used for the encryption passphrase for the machine and the printer driver, the machine cannot decrypt the encrypted user password, account password or secure document password, and printing cannot be performed. - The common encryption key is automatically generated by the [Encryption Passphrase]. The common encryption key cannot be specified directly. 12.8.1 Settings for the machine Go to Administrator Settings to configure the settings for the machine. 1 In the [Administrator Settings] screen, press [Security Settings]. 2 In the [Security Settings] screen, press [Driver Password Encryption Setting]. 3 Press [User-Defined]. % If you do not specify a user-defined [Encryption Passphrase], press [Use Factory Default]. 4 Press [Encryption Passphrase]. bizhub C360/C280/C220 12-32

Specifying the encryption passphrase by the user

The machine and the printer driver communicate with each other by encrypting a user password, account

password or secure document password using a common encryption key.

Although an encryption passphrase for generating the common encryption key is preset as a default setting,

it can also be generated with a user-defined encryption passphrase.

To specify a user-defined encryption passphrase, specify the same encryption passphrase both for the ma-

chine and the printer driver.

Reference

Settings for the machine

Go to Administrator Settings to configure the settings for the machine.

In the [Administrator Settings] screen, press [Security Settings].
