Administering the SPA400 and Voice Mail Service Enabling Debugging on the SPA400 5 Enabling Debugging on the SPA400 If you are investigating issues, you can collect system logs and debug information for the SPA400. Requirements: • You need a PC that is on the same subnetwork as the SPA9000, to capture the log files. This PC needs to be running a syslog daemon. Enter the IP address of this PC on the Voice > System page, in the Syslog Server and Debug Server fields. • You can deploy a syslog server to receive syslog messages from the device, which acts as a syslog client. The syslog client device uses the syslog protocol to send messages, based on its configuration, to a syslog server. The syslog messages can be accessed by reviewing the "syslog.514.log" file which resides in the same directory as the slogsrv.exe syslog server application. NOTE Partners can download the Syslog Server for SPA Devices by going to Cisco Partner Central, Voice & Conferencing page, Technical Resources section. Use the following URL: www.cisco.com/web/partners/sell/smb/products/ voice_and_conferencing.html#~vc_technical_resources STEP 1 Connect to the SPA400 administration web server. (See "Connecting to the SPA400 Administration Web Server," on page103.) STEP 2 Click Event Logs tab. STEP 3 Use the drop-down lists to choose the types of information that you want to collect.
