When multiple virus scanning engines try to access the same files on your computer, they interfere with each other. Use this task to uninstall existing virus protection software before installing the Total Protection Service virus and spyware protection. (There is no need to uninstall an existing installation of Total Protection Service.) Total Protection Service automatically detects some virus protection software during installation. It can uninstall some of these products during installation, and it prompts you to uninstall other products manually. If you are notified of existing virus protection software on a computer during installation, you must uninstall it before installing Total Protection Service.
