Step 4 Focus and Shoot 1 Press the shutter-release button halfway, i.e., press the button slightly until you feel resistance. • When you press the shutter-release button halfway, the camera sets the focus and exposure (shutter speed and aperture value). Focus and exposure remain locked while the shutter-release button is pressed halfway. • When the camera detects the main subject, it focuses on that subject. When the subject is in focus, the focus areas (up to 12 areas) light in green. The Basics of Shooting and Playback • The camera has nine focus areas, and if it does not detect the main subject, it automatically selects the focus areas containing the subject closest to the camera.
