5. Configuring the BIOS Managing Your Current BIOS without a Floppy Disk Drive Since you may not always have access to the floppy disk drive and/or CD-ROM drives. You should copy PHLASH.EXE, PLATFORM.BIN, and BIOS files to your hard disk drive from the support CD or from the Internet. Updating the BIOS without a Floppy Disk Drive (Windows ME) 1. Create a convenient directory such as C:\BIOS. 2. Download the latest BIOS file (v0104 or later) from the Internet into the directory created in step 1. If the file is compressed, you must uncompress it before using it. 3. Download "PLATFORM.BIN" into the directory created in step 1. The bin file may be included along with the BIOS file. 4. Insert a Recovery CD into the CD-ROM Drive. 5. Reboot the Notebook PC and choose the CD-ROM as the boot device by pressing "ESC" during bootup. (Win95/98: Press [F8] before the Windows screen appears. Choose the option "Command prompt only".) 6. Choose "1. MS-DOS with CD-ROM Support" 7. Change to the directory created in step 1. 8. Since you may not always have access to the floppy disk drive and/or CD-ROM drives. You should
copy
PHLASH.EXE, PLATFORM.BIN,
and
BIOS
files to your hard disk drive from the support CD
or from the Internet.
Updating the BIOS

1.
