NOTE: A Gb Ethernet pass-through module is also available as an option and requires no configuration. The Gb Ethernet pass-through module must be connected to a 1000 Mb port on the external switch (10 Mb and 100 Mb ports are not supported). Before configuring the switch, obtain the following information from your network administrator: • Username and password • The IP address to be assigned to the VLAN 1 interface through which the device is to be managed • The IP subnet mask for the network • The IP address of the default gateway To configure the PowerConnect 5316M Ethernet switch module using the internal serial port on the DRAC/MC module, perform the following steps: 1 Log on to the DRAC/MC Telnet or serial interface. 2 To redirect the switch console through the DRAC/MC console, enter the following command: connect switch-x where x is the module slot number on the chassis.
