Understanding the basics DX-24LD230A12 17 Understanding the basics Turning your TV/DVD combo on or off To turn your TV/DVD combo on or off: 1 Make sure that the power cord is connected to a power outlet. 2 Press (Power) to turn on your TV/DVD combo. 3 Press (Power) again to turn off your TV/DVD combo. Your TV/DVD combo enters Standby mode and the power indicator LED turns red. Selecting the video input source To select the video input source: 1 Turn on your TV/DVD combo, then press INPUT. The INPUT SOURCE list opens. 2 Press INPUT repeatedly, or press or to select the video input source. Wait a few seconds for the TV/DVD combo to switch to your selection, or press ENTER/ to switch immediately. Using the DVD player Your TV/DVD combo's built-in DVD player plays DVDs with the or playable region number marks. DVDs with other region markings are not playable. See page 40 for a list of compatible disc formats. Warning Keep your fingers clear of the disc slot when loading or unloading a disc. Neglecting to do so may cause serious personal injury. To start disc playback: 1 Press (Power) to turn on the TV/DVD combo. 2 Insert a DVD into the disc slot with the label facing forward. The DVD player reads the DVD and displays the opening screen. The TV/DVD combo automatically switches to DVD mode. The "Loading" message appears for a few seconds. If you loaded an audio CD, the file browser screen appears and music playback automatically starts. If you loaded a video CD or DVD and that disc has a root menu, this root menu is displayed. Press , , , or to navigate the menu options. If there is no root menu, video playback automatically starts. Playback controls • Press VOL+/VOL- to adjust playback volume. • Press (Play/Pause) to temporarily suspend disc playback (still mode). Press it again to continue playback. • Playback navigation controls: • Press (Skip back) to play the previous title or track. • Press (Fast reverse) to play in fast reverse direction. • Press (Fast forward) to play in fast forward direction. • Press (Skip forward) to play the next title or track. • Press A-B to create a playback loop. • During playback, press A-B at the point where you would like the playback loop to begin. This sets an "A" point. • Press A-B again when the playback reaches the point where you would like the playback loop to stop. The sets a "B" point. The section between points A and B will be played repeatedly in a loop until you press A-B again. • Press (Stop) to stop playback. To remove the disc: 1 Press (Eject) to unload the disc. 2 Wait for the disc to be ejected, then remove the disc from the slot.

Understanding the basics
Turning your TV/DVD combo on or off
To turn your TV/DVD combo on or off:

Make sure that the power cord is connected to a
power outlet.

Press
(Power) to turn on your TV/DVD combo.

Press
(Power) again to turn off your TV/DVD
combo. Your TV/DVD combo enters Standby mode
and the power indicator LED turns red.
Selecting the video input source
To select the video input source:

Turn on your TV/DVD combo, then press
INPUT
. The
INPUT SOURCE
list opens.

repeatedly, or press

to select the
video input source. Wait a few seconds for the
TV/DVD combo to switch to your selection, or press
ENTER

to switch immediately.
Using the DVD player
Your TV/DVD combo’s built-in DVD player plays DVDs
with the
or
playable region number marks. DVDs
with other region markings are not playable. See page 40
for a list of compatible disc formats.
To start disc playback:

(Power) to turn on the TV/DVD combo.

Insert a DVD into the disc slot with the label facing
forward. The DVD player reads the DVD and displays
the opening screen.
The TV/DVD combo automatically switches to DVD
mode. The “Loading” message appears for a few
seconds.
If you loaded an audio CD, the file browser screen
appears and music playback automatically starts. If
you loaded a video CD or DVD and that disc has a
root menu, this root menu is displayed. Press

to navigate the menu options. If there is no
root menu, video playback automatically starts.
Playback controls
• Press

to adjust playback volume.
• Press
(Play/Pause) to temporarily suspend disc
playback (still mode). Press it again to continue
playback.

track.

stop. The sets a “B” point. The section between
points A and B will be played repeatedly in a loop

To remove the disc:
