REV.-A 4.1 Adjusting the Printer Mechanism This section describes the various adjustments required to keep the printer mechanism in optimum condition. 4.1.1 Platen Gap Adjustment If you rotated or reassembled the carriage guide shaft or the PARALLELISM ADJUSTMENT BUSHING, or if printing is abnormal, you must adjust the gap between the platen and the printhead. [STEP 11 [STEp 21 [STEP 31 [STEP 41 Remove the printer's top cover. Move the LEVER, G. ADJUST to the O setting. Remove the RIBBON MASK using tweezers. Adjust the platen gap according to the following flowchart. The correct platen gap is 0.38 mm +/- 0.02 mm. Use the clearance gauge and adjust the gap so that the 0.36 mm gauge will fall into the gap and the 0.41 mm gauge wiil not. (Never try to force the gau9e into the 9aP.) To widen the gap, rotate the PARALLELISM ADJUSTMENT BUSHING downward. To narrow the gap, rotate the PARALLELISM ADJUSTMENT BUSHING upward. 4.1 Adjusting the Printer Mechanism
This section describes the various adjustments required to keep the printer mechanism in optimum condition.
4.1.1 Platen Gap Adjustment
If you rotated or reassembled the carriage guide shaft or the PARALLELISM ADJUSTMENT BUSHING, or if
printing is abnormal, you must adjust the gap between the platen and the printhead.

Remove the printer’s top cover.

Move the LEVER, G. ADJUST to the O setting.

Remove the RIBBON MASK using tweezers.

Adjust the platen gap according to the following flowchart. The correct platen gap is 0.38 mm
