System Overview Flight Instruments EIS CNS Interface Integrated Autopilot PITCH HOLD MODE (PIT) When the Integrated Autopilot is activated, Pitch Hold Mode is selected by default. Pitch Hold Mode is indicated as the active vertical mode by the green annunciation 'PIT'. This mode may be used for climb or descent to the Selected Altitude (shown above the altimeter), since Selected Altitude Capture Mode is automatically armed when Pitch Hold Mode is activated. In Pitch Hold Mode, a constant pitch attitude (the pitch reference) is maintained. The pitch reference is set to the aircraft pitch attitude at the moment of mode selection. If the aircraft pitch attitude exceeds the configured pitch command limitations, a pitch angle equal to the nose-up/down limit is maintained. Changing the pitch reference while in Pitch Hold (PIT) Mode: Move and hold the FMS Joystick (PFD) up or down. This causes the nose of the aircraft to slowly pitch in the direction that the FMS Joystick is held. The current pitch attitude is held when the joystick is released. Or: Hold the Control Wheel Steering (CWS) Button (if equipped, and the external autopilot unit supports CWS), establish the desired pitch attitude, then release the CWS Button.
