printed; macOS: Scan ICC profiling chart and create ICC profile). In this case the spectrophotometer takes a while to warm up before it is ready to scan. 4. Enter the name of your new profile. 5. The HP Utility may prompt you to calibrate the paper. 6. A profiling chart is printed. Unlike a calibration chart, most of the patches contain combinations of more than one ink. The printer automatically chooses the profiling chart for the paper size loaded. An A3 or B format for cut sheets A roll-paper format that minimizes paper use by printing across the full width of the roll 7. The chart is allowed to dry for a period of time that depends on the paper type, so that the colors have time to stabilize. 8. The chart is scanned, and measured by the HP Embedded Spectrophotometer. 9. From the measurements made by the spectrophotometer, the printer calculates the ICC profile for your printer, inks, and paper type. 10. The new ICC profile is stored in the following folder on your computer: ● C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color (Windows) ● /Library/ColorSync/Profiles/HP DesignJet (macOS) 11. The profile is also stored in the printer, so that other computers connected to the same printer can copy it. The HP Utility will notify you if your printer has profiles that are not yet stored on your computer. NOTE: Some applications may need to be closed and restarted in order to use a profile that has just been created. Install a color profile If you have obtained an ICC profile through other means than using the HP Utility, for instance from the Internet or from a third-party profiling software package, you can still install it for use with your printer and paper.
