Chapter 2 FCArray Assistant Software installation User Account A user account with administration rights is required to set up FCArray Assistant on the managed server and the client workstations. CAUTION To prevent difficulties with FCArray Assistant's configuration, set up the user account fcarray before continuing. A user account with administration privileges must be set up to configure the FCArray Assistant on the managed server and the client workstations To set up a fcarray user account, perform the following steps. 1. Click the Start button in Windows NT 4.0. 2. Scroll to Programs and then scroll down to Administrative Tools (Common) in the Programs submenu. 3. Scroll down to User Manager in the Administrative Tools (Common) submenu and release the mouse button. 4. Select User in the menu bar, scroll down to New User, and then release the mouse button. The New User dialog appears on screen. 5. Type fcarray in the Username: text box. 6. Type a password in the Password: box and then type it again in the Confirm Password: text box. 7. Select the Groups button in the lower left corner of New User dialog box. The Group Membership dialog box appears on screen, which has User listed in the Member of: (left window) and Administrators along with other names listed in the Not member of: (right window). 8. Move Administrator to the Member of: using the Add button in the Group Membership dialog box. 9. Move all other names (User) in the left window to the Not member of: (right window), using the Remove button in the dialog box. 10. Click OK to accept the fcarray account and its administrator rights. NOTE Once the user account fcarray is set up, it will be the only account used to configure the FCArray Controllers in FCArray Assistant. 12

User Account
A user account with administration rights is required to set up FCArray Assistant
on the managed server and the client workstations.
CAUTION
To prevent difficulties with
FCArray Assistant’s
configuration, set up the user account
fcarray
before
continuing. A user account with administration privileges
must be set up to configure the FCArray Assistant on the
managed server and the client workstations
To set up a fcarray user account, perform the following steps.
1.
Click the
Start
button in Windows NT 4.0.
2.
Scroll to
Programs
and then scroll down to
Administrative Tools
(Common)
in the Programs submenu.
3.
Scroll down to
User Manager
in the Administrative Tools (Common)
submenu and release the mouse button.
4.
Select
User
in the menu bar, scroll down to
New User
, and then release the
mouse button.
The New User dialog appears on screen.
5.
Type
fcarray
in the
Username
: text box.
6.
Type a password in the
Password
: box and then type it again in the
Confirm Password
: text box.
7.
Select the
Groups
button in the lower left corner of New User dialog box.
The Group Membership dialog box appears on screen, which has User
