Chapter 4 Configuration Alert Preferences In the Settings dialog box, under the Alert Preferences tab, you have the option of setting any of the following features (see Figure 4-9): Event Log: • Enables or disables the event logging function • Appends events to your current log file • Replaces the log file (overwrite it) • Renames the log file Enable Global Alerts for Severity Level(s): • Enables each type of alarm (E-mail, Pager, Fax, Launch Application, and Alarm Sound) globally, check the box corresponding to the event severity level(s) desired for each type of alarm. For example, in Figure 4-9, all Level 0 and Level 1 messages/events will result in an alarm sounded locally, an e-mail, page (Level 0 only), and fax sent to those individuals identified in the section "Alarm Setup" later in this chapter. Events are numbered from 0, for the most severe, to 4, for the least severe, and can be edited by the user in the section "Event Editor" later in this chapter. Finish your changes in this dialog tab by making one of the following selections: • Click the OK button to accept the global alert settings and exit the Settings dialog box, or • Click the Cancel button to leave original settings unchanged, or • Click another Settings tab to set up the items selected in this dialog box, or make additional changes to user preferences. 37

Alert Preferences
In the Settings dialog box, under the Alert Preferences tab, you have the option of

Event Log:
