Chapter 4 Configuration Fast Charging Active - This checkbox indicates when the battery pack is being charged up. A fast charge also occurs when the FCArray Controller card is powered on. There is no trickle charge option to select, but the battery pack receives a trickle charge if no other Actions list item is active. Discharging Active - This checkbox indicates the battery pack is currently discharging. Use this option to discharge the battery pack just before a battery pack replacement. NOTE The battery pack receives a trickle charge if no Actions list item is active. Actions Set Low Power Threshold - This option button selection is used after editing the Low Power Threshold field under Power Levels. Once the field value has been altered, the Set Low Power Threshold option button is clicked to verify the threshold field and arm the Apply button. The value in the edited field is verified by the software to ensure it is numeric, has a format similar to the other power level fields, and does not exceed 65,535 minutes (or 1092.25 hours). Once the verification is complete, the Apply button is armed (goes active and is no longer grayed out). Then the Apply button must be selected for the new value in Low Power Threshold to go into effect. Recondition Battery - This option button is used to initiate the battery pack's reconditioning (discharge - recharge cycle) process. The Apply button must be selected to start the process. The FCArray Controller's cache is placed in conservative cache mode for the duration of the Recondition Battery process. This recondition process may take up to 15 hours to complete. Conservative cache mode operates much the same as Write Thru cache. The cache still functions for reads, but writes are acknowledged only after the write data is on disk. In Write Thru cache, the writes are acknowledged only after the write data is in cache. Conservative cache mode produces a performance slow down as writes are slower. Discharge Battery - This option button is gray and can't be selected because it is inactive and reserved for future use. 61

Set Low Power Threshold
- This option button selection is used after
editing the Low Power Threshold field under Power
Levels. Once the
field value has been altered, the Set Low Power Threshold option
button is clicked to verify the threshold field and arm the Apply button.
The value in the edited field is verified by the software to ensure it is
numeric, has a format similar to the other power level fields, and does
not exceed 65,535 minutes (or 1092.25 hours). Once the verification is
complete, the
Apply
button is armed (goes active and is no longer
grayed out).
Then the
Apply
button must be selected for the new value in Low
Power
Threshold to go into effect.
Recondition Battery
- This option button is used to initiate the battery
pack’s reconditioning (discharge - recharge cycle) process. The
Apply
button must be selected to start the process.
The FCArray Controller’s cache is placed in conservative cache mode
for the duration of the Recondition Battery process. This recondition
process may take up to 15 hours to complete.
Conservative cache mode operates much the same as Write Thru cache.
The cache still functions for reads, but writes are acknowledged only
after the write data is on disk. In Write Thru cache, the writes are
acknowledged only after the write data is in cache. Conservative cache
mode produces a performance slow down as writes are slower.
Discharge Battery
- This option button is gray and can't be selected
because it is inactive and reserved for future use.
