ASCII Parameters File Transfer The ASCII Parameters dialog is displayed by clicking the ASCII... button in the Initiate File Transfer dialog. This enables you to set parameters specific to the ASCII protocol. You can save the settings so that they are reasserted the next time you run the file transfer utility by selecting the Save Settings option then clicking the OK button. Note: The ASCII protocol has additional parameters which can be set in another dialog by pressing the General... button. This dialog is described in the section "General Parameters" on page 390. CR Translation Factory default: CR This determines how carriage return characters are interpreted. When set to None, all carriage returns are removed before data is transferred. When set to CR, carriage returns are transmitted as they are. When set to CR/LF, every carriage return character will be appended with a line feed character. Note: On a PC most text files are delimited by a CR/LF sequence, whereas most mainframes and other systems expect ASCII files delimited only with a CR. ASCII Parameters 395
