Fixing a Jammed, Broken, or Detached Tape Attention: This procedure must be performed only by a trained IBM service provider, and only after the customer follows step 7 on page 86 and determines the tape is jammed, broken, or detached from the tape drive's leader block. SSRs should claim their time against service code 33 ECA 013 when performing this procedure. Removing the Internal Drive 1. Remove the cover (see 1 in Figure 27) of the 3580 Ultrium 2 Tape Drive by performing the following steps: a. Place the 3580 Ultrium 2 Tape Drive on its side and use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the four feet 2 from the bottom. b. Return the 3580 Ultrium 2 Tape Drive to an upright position and use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw 3 at the top rear of the unit. Figure 27. Attention:
This procedure must be performed only by a trained IBM service
provider, and only after the customer follows step 7 on page 86 and determines
the tape is jammed, broken, or detached from the tape drive
s leader block. SSRs
should claim their time against service code 33 ECA 013 when performing this
procedure.
Removing the Internal Drive
1.
Remove the cover (see
±1²
in Figure 27) of the 3580 Ultrium 2 Tape Drive by
performing the following steps:
a.
Place the 3580 Ultrium 2 Tape Drive on its side and use a Phillips
screwdriver to remove the four feet
±2²
from the bottom.
b.
Return the 3580 Ultrium 2 Tape Drive to an upright position and use a
Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw
±3²
at the top rear of the unit.
c.
Remove the cover by grasping its top and sliding it to the rear.
