Function Code E: Test Cartridge & Media Function Code E performs tests that determine whether a suspect cartridge and its magnetic tape are acceptable. The diagnostic takes approximately 15 minutes to complete and loops continually until you halt it. To halt the diagnostic, press the unload button. The diagnostic will continue to the end of its loop, then stop. The drive then exits maintenance mode. Attention: When you perform this test, data on the suspect tape will be overwritten. 1.
