Installing printer option cards You can install any of the following printer option cards in your printer: • Print server • Tri-Port adapter • Parallel port interface card • USB interface card A print server (sometimes called an internal network adapter or INA) such as the MarkNetTM N2001e lets you connect the printer to a local area network (LAN). MarkNet N2000 print servers support the following LAN options: • Ethernet 10BaseT and 10Base2 • Ethernet 10/100BaseTX • Token-Ring The tri-Port adapter provides connectors for the following: • Serial interface (RS-232C or RS-422) • LocalTalk network • An infrared adapter The parallel port interface card provides an additional parallel port. Its IEEE 1284C connector requires a 1284 A-C cable. You can purchase a 3 m (9.8 ft) cable, Lexmark part number 43H5171, meeting these specifications. Refer to the documentation that came with your interface card or adapter for more information. Your system board has one option slot. The option slot supports network, tri-port, parallel port, USB, and fax modem printer option cards. The instructions on page 38 explain how to install a printer option card. Installing printer
option cards
You can install any of the following printer option
cards in your printer:
Print server
Tri-Port adapter
Parallel port interface card
USB interface card

The parallel port interface card provides an addi-
tional parallel port. Its IEEE 1284C connector
requires a 1284 A
C cable. You can purchase a 3 m
(9.8 ft) cable, Lexmark part number 43H5171,
meeting these specifications. Refer to the docu-
mentation that came with your interface card or
adapter for more information.
Your system board has one option slot. The option
slot supports network, tri-port, parallel port, USB,
and fax modem printer option cards.
