Troubleshooting The picture is too dark. Possible cause The flash was blocked by your finger. The subject was out of the working range of the flash. The flash was set to the flash off mode. The subject was too small and was backlit. The sequential shooting mode was used. Corrective action Hold the camera correctly, keeping your fingers away from the flash. Shoot within the flash working range. Select a flash mode other than flash off. Set the flash to fill-in mode, or use the spot metering mode. Higher shutter speeds are used when the sequential shooting mode is selected, which may result in pictures that are darker than usual. Select in the DRIVE menu. Ref.
