Chapter 36 DHCP 36.3.3 Sub-Option Format There are two types of sub-option: "Agent Circuit ID Sub-option" and "Agent Remote ID Suboption". They have the following formats. Table 140 DHCP Relay Agent Circuit ID Sub-option Format SubOpt 1 (1 byte) Length N (1 byte) String or System Name Value Table 141 DHCP Relay Agent Remote ID Sub-option Format SubOpt 2 (1 byte) Length N (1 byte) String or Port Name Value The 1 in the first field identifies this as an Agent Circuit ID sub-option and 2 identifies this as an Agent Remote ID sub-option. The next field specifies the length of the field. The following describes the default DHCP relay information that the Switch sends to the DHCP server when you enable DHCP Option 82: Table 142 DHCP Relay Agent Information FIELD LABELS DESCRIPTION Slot ID (1 byte) This value is always 0 for stand-alone switches. Port ID (1 byte) This is the port that the DHCP client is connected to. VLAN ID (2 bytes) This is the VLAN that the port belongs to. Information (Circuit ID) (up to 15 bytes) This is the information you want the Switch to add in the DHCP requests that it relays to a DHCP server. You can configure the Switch to also append the remote ID to the option 82 field of DHCP requests. 36.3.4 Configuring DHCP Global Relay Configure global DHCP relay in the DHCP Relay screen.
