Chapter 8 Basic Setting The following table describes the labels in this screen. Table 16 Basic Setting > IP Setup > IPv6 Setup LABEL DESCRIPTION In-band IPv6 Link-local Address This displays the in-band IPv6 link-local address that the Switch generates automatically. Out-of-band This displays the out-of-band IPv6 link-local address that the Switch generates automatically. IPv6 Link-local Address In-band Management IPv6 Address IPv6 Address Enter the IPv6 global address of your Switch using colon (:) hexadecimal notation. IPv6 Subnet Mask Bits Enter the bit number of the IPv6 subnet mask, that is, the prefix length. Default Gateway Enter the IPv6 address of the default outgoing gateway using colon (:) hexadecimal notation. VID Enter the VLAN identification number associated with the Switch IPv6 address. This is the VLAN ID of the CPU and is used for management only. The default is "1". All ports, by default, are fixed members of this "management VLAN" in order to manage the device from any port. If a port is not a member of this VLAN, then users on that port cannot access the device. To access the Switch make sure the port that you are connected to is a member of the management VLAN. Out-of-band Management IPv6 Address IPv6 Address Enter the IPv6 global address of your Switch using colon (:) hexadecimal notation. If you change this IPv6 address, make sure the computer connected to this management port is in the same subnet before accessing the Switch. IPv6 Subnet Mask Bits Enter the bit number of the IPv6 subnet mask, that is, the prefix length. Default Gateway Enter the IPv6 address of the default outgoing gateway using colon (:) hexadecimal notation. In-band IPv6 Global Address/Out-of-band Management IPv6 Address Index This field displays the index number of the Switch's IPv6 address. Address This field displays the IPv6 address of your Switch. PrefixLen This field displays the prefix length of the IPv6 address. Scope This field displays whether the IPv6 address is a global or link-local address. State This field displays whether the IPv6 address is preferred or not (tentative). Valid This field displays whether the IPv6 address is always valid (infinity). Preferred This field displays whether the IPv6 address is always preferred (infinity). Apply Click Apply to save your changes to the Switch's run-time memory. The Switch loses these changes if it is turned off or loses power, so use the Save link on the top navigation panel to save your changes to the non-volatile memory when you are done configuring. Cancel Click Cancel to begin configuring this screen afresh. 86 VES1724-56 User's Guide
