IP aliases can make it easier to refer to other network devices when you use ping, telnet, and other commands, even when DNS is not enabled. For the name argument, specify a name for your IP alias. For the ip_addr argument, specify the IP address to which the name refers. To define an IP alias on the switch, perform this task in privileged mode: Step 1 Step 2 Task Define an IP alias on the switch. Verify the currently defined IP aliases. Defining and Using IP Aliases

You can use the

set ip alias

command to define aliases for IP addresses. IP aliases can make it easier to

refer to other network devices when you use

ping

telnet

, and other commands, even when DNS is not

enabled.

For the

name

argument, specify a name for your IP alias. For the

ip_addr

argument, specify the IP

address to which the name refers.

To define an IP alias on the switch, perform this task in privileged mode:
