6-16 Troubleshooting Solving Network Problems Continued Problem Cause Diagnostics passes, but the workstation does not communicate with the network (continued) The network controller is not configured for this workstation. Solution Select the Network icon at the Control Panel. Network controller stopped working when an expansion board was added to the workstation Network controller interrupt with an expansion board. Under the Computer Setup Advanced menu, change the resource settings for the board. The network controller requires driver. Verify that the driver was not accidentally deleted when the drivers for a new expansion board were installed. The files containing the network driver are corrupted. Reinstall the network driver, using the Compaq SmartStart for Workstations CD. Network controller stopped working without apparent cause The files containing the network driver are corrupted. Reinstall the network driver, using the Compaq SmartStart for Workstations CD. The cable is not securely connected. Ensure that the cable is securely attached to the network connector and that the other end of the cable is securely attached to the correct device. The network controller is defective. Contact your Compaq authorized service provider. Cannot connect to network server when attempting Remote System Installation The network controller is not configured properly. Run Computer Setup and modify the Embedded NIC Settings.
