NOTICE: To help prevent damage to the system board, you must remove the battery from the battery bay before you begin working inside the computer. 1 Follow the procedures in "Before You Begin" on page 113. 2 Remove the hinge cover: a Open the display all the way (180 degrees) so that it lies flat against your work surface. NOTICE: To avoid damage to the hinge cover, do not lift the cover on both sides simultaneously. b Insert a plastic scribe into the indent to the right side of the hinge cover. c Ease the hinge cover up, moving from right to left, and remove it. NOTE: When you replace the hinge cover, first insert the left edge and then press down from left to right until the cover snaps into place. 1 2 1 hinge cover 2 scribe Keyboard CAUTION: Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the safety instructions in the Product Information Guide.
