NOTE Library Operation Loading Cartridges Into the Library Loading Cartridges Into the Library Tape cartridges can be loaded either through the mailslot or through the bulk load access door. • Using the mailslot allows the bar code label on a tape cartridge to be read and a storage slot location assigned and read into memory immediately. • Using the bulk load access door allows several cartridges to be quickly loaded into storage slots. The bar codes and storage slot locations are stored in library memory when the door is closed and the Inventory Check test runs automatically (the test takes about one minute). Label all cartridges before inserting them into the library. (See "Labeling Tape Cartridges" on page 3-4 for instructions.) Some software packages require that cartridges be inserted and removed using the software. If a software package manages files in the library, check the software documentation before proceeding. 4-14
