Chapter 5 WAN Setup The following table describes the labels in this screen. Table 12 Network > WAN > Internet Connection > Add/Edit: WAN IP Settings (PPPoE) LABEL DESCRIPTION PPP User Name Enter the user name exactly as your ISP assigned. If assigned a name in the form user@domain where domain identifies a service name, then enter both components exactly as given. PPP Password Enter the password associated with the user name above. PPPoE Service Name Type the name of your PPPoE service here. This field is not available for a PPPoA connection. Authentication Method The ZyXEL Device supports PAP (Password Authentication Protocol) and CHAP (Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol). CHAP is more secure than PAP; however, PAP is readily available on more platforms. Use the drop-down list box to select an authentication protocol for outgoing calls. Options are: AUTO - Your ZyXEL Device accepts either CHAP or PAP when requested by this remote node. CHAP - Your ZyXEL Device accepts CHAP only. Use Static IP Address IP Address Enable NAT Enable ICMP Response Back Next PAP - Your ZyXEL Device accepts PAP only. A static IP address is a fixed IP that your ISP gives you. A dynamic IP address is not fixed; the ISP assigns you a different one each time you connect to the Internet. Select this if you do not have a dynamic IP address. Enter the static IP address provided by your ISP. Select this option to enable full cone NAT on the ZyXEL Device. Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) is a message control and error-reporting protocol between a host server and a gateway to the Internet. Select this check box to have the ZyXEL Device enable this feature. Click this button to return to the previous screen. Click this button to continue. FSG2200HNU User's Guide 81
