Adding Basting Stitches to Designs Youcan create a series of stitches that will baste a rectangular outline around the edge of a design. The stitches start at the top left corner of the design; these initial stitches are just jumps and do not sew. Then, a basting run stitch is sewn around the outer edge in a rectangle (close to the inside edge of the hoop) until complete. The next color is then the starting color of the design.
