Recording Audio Adjusting the Audio Recording Level You can adjust the audio recording level of the various audio channels using the audio controls on the handle unit or the audio screen in the FUNC menu. The audio screen shows an overview of the audio channels used and, for each audio channel: the audio input currently selected, whether the audio recording level is adjusted automatically or manually and the audio level indicator. 81 Automatic Audio Level Adjustment for CH1 or CH2 When the handle unit is attached to the camcorder, set the audio level switch of the desired channel to A (automatic) to let the camcorder automatically adjust that channel's audio level. If the handle unit is not attached, adjust the audio levels using the FUNC menu (A 82). CH1/CH2 audio level switches Automatic Level Control (ALC): Linking or separating the audio adjustment of CH1/CH2 or CH3/CH4 (INPUT terminals / MIC terminal) When the INPUT 1 and INPUT 2 switches are both set to the same type of audio source (line input or microphone), you can link the audio level adjustment for both inputs with the > [C Audio Setup] > [INPUT 1/2 ALC Link] setting. When the [ Linked] option is selected, you can use CH1's audio level switch and dial to adjust both CH1 and CH2 (A 82), or select [CH3/4] in the FUNC menu's audio screen to adjust both CH3 and CH4 (A 82). Conversely, you can set > [C Audio Setup] > [MIC ALC Link] to [ Separated] in order to separate the audio level adjustment for the L and R channels of an external microphone connected to the MIC terminal. This allows you to adjust each channel independently in the FUNC menu's audio screen (A 82).
