Follow the procedure listed in After working inside your system. Removing the processor Prerequisites WARNING: The heat sink may be hot to touch for some time after the system has been powered down. Allow the heat sink to cool before removing it. 1. Follow the safety guidelines listed in Safety instructions. 2. Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system. 3. Remove the air shroud. 4. Remove the heat sink. Steps 1. Release the socket lever by pushing the lever down and out from under the tab on the processor shield. 2. Lift the lever until the processor shield is fully open. 3. Lift the processor from the socket. Installing and removing system components 87
