NOTE 4 Troubleshooting Your PC Setting the Device Boot Order Setting the Device Boot Order To select the drive to start (boot) from, you must enter the Setup program and go to Advanced - Advanced CMOS Setup. You can then select the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Boot Devices. Connecting a hard disk drive to the IDE master connector does not ensure that the PC will boot on that hard disk drive. The first time you start your PC, the PC will by default boot from the hard disk drive connected to the Master IDE connector on the Primary IDE cable (IDE-0). The drive positions on the two IDE cables are: Cable Primary IDE Primary IDE Secondary IDE Secondary IDE Connector Master Slave Master Slave BIOS ID (in Setup Program) IDE-0 IDE-1 IDE-2 IDE-3 When booting from a different hard disk drive, make sure you know its physical position on the cable. 84 English
