Removal and Replacement Procedures- Microtower Type 2 Chassis 6.16 Power Supply Å WARNING: Voltage is always present on the system board when the computer is plugged into an active AC outlet. To avoid possible personal injury and damage to the equipment the power cord should be disconnected from the computer and/or the AC outlet before opening the computer. 1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (Section 6.1, "Preparation for Disassembly"). 2. Remove the right access panel (Section 6.2, "Access Panel"). 3. Disconnect all power cables from the mass storage devices and from the system board. If the chassis has a removable retaining clip, lay the chassis down on its side for easy access and continue with step 4. If the chassis does not have a removable retaining clip, keep the computer in its upright position and continue with step 5. 4. Remove the two screws that secure the power supply retaining clip 1 to the chassis. ✎ Do not remove the retaining clip from the power supply. Only select models use a power supply retaining clip. 5. Remove the 4 screws that secure the power supply 2 to the chassis. 6. Slide the power supply toward the front of the computer 3, then lift it out of the computer. To install the power supply, reverse the removal procedure. ✎ On chassis with a power supply retaining clip it is easier to install the power supply with the chassis turned upside down. This will give you better control when installing the first power supply retaining screw. 6-26 336493-004 Service Reference Guide, d200
