B BIOS tools (desktop thin clients only) There are two kinds of BIOS tools for HP ThinPro: ● BIOS settings tool: Used to retrieve or modify BIOS settings ● BIOS flashing tool: Used to update the BIOS These tools can be run via an X terminal. BIOS settings tool The following table describes the syntax for the BIOS settings tool. NOTE: Changes do not take effect until the next reboot. Syntax hptc-bios-cfg -G hptc-bios-cfg -S hptc-bios-cfg -h Description Retrieves the current BIOS settings and saves them to the specified file so they can be viewed or modified (CPQSETUP.TXT by default). Writes the BIOS settings from the specified file (CPQSETUP.TXT by default) to the BIOS. Displays a list of options. BIOS flashing tool The following table describes the syntax for the BIOS flashing tool. NOTE: Changes do not take effect until the next reboot. Syntax hptc-bios-flash hptc-bios-flash -h Description Prepares the system to update the BIOS during the next restart. This command automatically copies the files into the correct location and prompts you to restart the thin client. NOTE: This command requires that the Tool-less update option in the BIOS settings is set to Auto. Displays a list of options. BIOS settings tool 75

There are two kinds of BIOS tools for HP ThinPro:
BIOS settings tool: Used to retrieve or modify BIOS settings
BIOS
flashing
tool: Used to update the BIOS
These tools can be run via an X terminal.
BIOS settings tool
The following table describes the syntax for the BIOS settings tool.
NOTE:
Changes do not take
effect
until the next reboot.
Syntax
Description
hptc-bios-cfg –G <file name>
Retrieves the current BIOS settings and saves them to the
specified
file
so they can be viewed or
modified
(CPQSETUP.TXT by
default).
hptc-bios-cfg –S <file name>
Writes the BIOS settings from the
specified
file
(CPQSETUP.TXT by
default) to the BIOS.
hptc-bios-cfg –h
Displays a list of options.

flashing
tool
The following table describes the syntax for the BIOS
flashing
tool.
