v The SSH clients distributed with the Red Hat 4.1 and SLES 9 operating systems (see your operating-system documentation for information). v The SSH client of Cygwin (for details, see the Cygwin Web site [www.cygwin.com]). v PuTTy (for details, see the PuTTy Web site [www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/ ~sgtatham/putty/]). Additional SSH clients are available and should work with the SMASH Proxy; however, support for these SSH clients is not implied. Telnet access To log on to the SMASH Proxy using Telnet, complete the following steps: 1. Open a command-line window on the network-management workstation and enter: telnet -l clpuser 192.168.70.125. The IP address 192.168.70.125 is a sample IP address of the SMASH Proxy. If a new IP address has been assigned to the management module, use that one instead. 2. At the user name prompt, type the user ID for the target chassis MM. At the password prompt, type the MM password. The user ID and password are case-sensitive and are the same as those that are used for Web access to the target MM. 3. A command prompt is displayed, allowing you to enter commands to the SMASH Proxy. Note: If you omit -l clpuser, you get an extra login prompt before the SMASH shell user name and password login prompt. The following example contains a sample output from an Telnet login: [root@repuda sbin]# telnet -l clpuser repuda Trying 9.42.237.131... Connected to repuda.raleigh.ibm.com (9.42.237.131). Accessing the SMASH Proxy: Local user access You can access the SMASH Proxy locally on the SMASH proxy management station by establishing a Telnet or SSH session to the local host address of 127.0.0.1.
