OTHER FUNCTIONS 10 ■ Weather channel operation U.S.A. version only 1 There are 10 weather channels for monitoring weather broadcasts from the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). D Weather channel selection q Push [V/M/C] repeatedly to select weather channel mode. • The weather channel number appears. w Rotate [DIAL] to select a desired weather channel. e Push [V/M/C] to return to the previous frequency or mem- ory channel. [DIAL] Weather channel dysplay D Weather alert function 2 NOAA broadcast stations transmit weather alert tones be- 3 fore important weather announcements. When the weather alert function is turned ON, the selected weather channel is 4 monitored every 5 seconds for the announcement. When the 5 alert signal is detected, the "ALT" and the WX channel indications are displayed alternately and a beep sounds until 6 the transceiver is operated. The previously selected (used) 7 weather channel is checked periodically during standby or while scanning. 8 q Select the desired weather channel. 9 w Push [SET] to enter the Set mode. 10 e Rotate [DIAL] to select the weather alert setting item, then rotate [VOL] to select "On." 11 12 13 14 r Push [V/M/C] to return to the weather channel display. • "WX" appears. 15 16 Push and hold [SCAN](H/M/L) for 1 sec. activates the weather channel scan. Weather alert function
NOAA broadcast stations transmit weather alert tones be-
fore important weather announcements. When the weather
alert function is turned ON, the selected weather channel is
monitored every 5 seconds for the announcement. When the
alert signal is detected, the “ALT” and the WX channel in-
dications are displayed alternately and a beep sounds until
the transceiver is operated. The previously selected (used)
weather channel is checked periodically during standby or
while scanning.

Select the desired weather channel.

Push
[SET]
to enter the Set mode.

Rotate
[DIAL]
to select the weather alert setting item, then
rotate
[VOL]
to select “On.”

Push
[V/M/C]
to return to the weather channel display.
