4 Configuration The following configuration programs are provided with your blade server: • Configuration/Setup Utility program This is part of the basic input/output system (BIOS) code in your blade server. Use it to change interrupt request (IRQ) settings, set the date and time, and set passwords. See "Using the Configuration/Setup Utility program" for more information. • PXE boot agent utility program The Preboot eXecution Environment (PXE) boot agent utility program is part of the BIOS code in the blade server. Use it to select the boot protocol and other boot options, to display the PXE setup prompt or to disable it, to set the prompt display duration, and to select a power management option. For information about using this utility, see "Using the PXE boot agent utility program" on page 14. Using the Configuration/Setup Utility program This section provides the instructions to start the Configuration/Setup Utility program and descriptions of the menu choices. Starting the Configuration/Setup Utility program Complete the following steps to start the Configuration/Setup Utility program: 1. Turn on the blade server and watch the monitor screen. 2. When the message Press F1 for Configuration/Setup appears, press F1. 3. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen. Configuration/Setup Utility menu choices The following choices are on the Configuration/Setup Utility main menu. Depending on the version of the BIOS code in your blade server, some menu choices might differ slightly from these descriptions. • System Summary Select this choice to display configuration information, including the type, speed, and cache sizes of the microprocessors and the amount of installed memory. When you make configuration changes through other options in the Configuration/Setup Utility program, the changes are reflected in the system summary; you cannot change settings directly in the system summary. This choice is on the full and limited Configuration/Setup Utility menus. • System Information Select this choice to display information about your blade server. When you make configuration changes through other options in the Configuration/Setup Utility program, some of those changes are reflected in the system information; you cannot change settings directly in the system information. This choice is on the full Configuration/Setup Utility main menu. 11

4 Configuration
The following configuration programs are provided with your blade server:
Configuration/Setup Utility program
This is part of the basic input/output system (BIOS) code in your blade server. Use it to change
interrupt request (IRQ) settings, set the date and time, and set passwords. See “Using the
Configuration/Setup Utility program” for more information.

Using the Configuration/Setup Utility program
This section provides the instructions to start the Configuration/Setup Utility program and

Starting the Configuration/Setup Utility program
Complete the following steps to start the Configuration/Setup Utility program:
1.
