Installing the system fans Attention: Do not open your server or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the "Safety information" on page iii and "Guidelines" on page 35. This section provides instructions on how to install the system fans. CAUTION: Hazardous moving parts. Keep fingers and other body parts away. To install the system fans, do the following: 1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the server. Then, disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the server. 2. Remove the server cover. See Removing the server cover. 3. Remove the microprocessor fan duct. See Removing the microprocessor fan duct. 4. Remove the riser card assembly. See Removing the riser card assembly. 5. For each system fan, slide it into the chassis from the top until it snaps into position. 6. Connect the system fan cables to the system board. Installing the system fans
Attention:
Do not open your server or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the “Safety information”
on page iii and “Guidelines” on page 35.
This section provides instructions on how to install the system fans.
CAUTION:

To install the system fans, do the following:
1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the server. Then, disconnect all
power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the server.
2. Remove the server cover. See Removing the server cover.
3. Remove the microprocessor fan duct. See Removing the microprocessor fan duct.
4. Remove the riser card assembly. See Removing the riser card assembly.
5. For each system fan, slide it into the chassis from the top until it snaps into position.
6. Connect the system fan cables to the system board. For system fan connectors on the system board,
see Locating other connectors on the system board.
