Use this option to choose how the camera meters exposure. Option G Matrix (default setting) q Center-weighted Description The camera uses a wide area of the screen for metering. This metering mode provides the appropriate exposure for a variety of shooting conditions. Recommended for typical shooting. The camera meters the entire frame but assigns greatest weight to the subject at the center of the frame. The classic metering for portraits; it preserves background details while letting lighting conditions at the center of the frame determine exposure. Can be used with focus lock (A68) to meter offcenter subjects. B Notes on Metering • When the digital zoom is in effect, Metering is set to Center-weighted or spot metering (where the center of the frame is metered) depending on the magnification of an enlargement. • Some features cannot be used in combination with other menu settings. See "Features Not Available in Combination" (A64) for more information. C Metering Area When Center-weighted is selected for Metering, the metering range guide (A8) is displayed (except when digital zoom is used). Reference Section E33
