Entering text and symbols Entering text and symbols You can enter numbers, text, and symbols into messages, form fields, interactive applications, games, and on the Internet while using your Smartphone. Your phone provides two types of text entry methods, T9 and Multi-tap. Entering numbers 1. Press and hold until 123 appears in the upper right corner of the display. 2. Enter numbers using the alpha-numeric keypad. T9 text entry Using the advanced T9 software, you can greatly increase your writing speed because you press a key that contains the letter you want only once. As you press the keys for the word you're typing, the software compares the numbers entered with its dictionary until a match occurs. Activating T9 While at any text entry screen, press and hold until t9, T9, or T9 appears in the upper right corner of the display. T9 modes Each of T9's three modes is indicated by theseicons in the upper right corner of the display. To cycle through T9 modes, briefly press while in T9 mode. T9 - Uppercase. Any words that you enter will be in uppercase, or all capital letters. T9 - Initial caps. Only the first word of each sentence is in capital letters. t9 - Lowercase. Any words that you enter will be in lower case letters. 79
