Entering text and symbols SPACES IN T9 MODE • To enter a space after a word, thereby accepting the word and proceeding to the next word, press . Multi-tap text entry Multi-tap text entry is the conventional way to enter text where you continue to press a key that contains the letter you want until the letter (symbol) displays. Activating multi-tap • While at any text entry screen, press and hold until ABC, ABC, or abc appears in the upper right corner of the display. Multi-tap modes Multi-tap mode is indicated by the following icons in the upper right corner of the display. ABC - Uppercase only. Any letters that you enter will be in uppercase, or all capital letters. ABC - Initial caps. Only the first word of each sentence is in capital letters. abc - Lowercase. Any words that you enter will be in lower case letters. • To cycle through multi-tap modes, briefly press while using multi-tap. Using multi-tap text entry • The conventional method for entering text is called multi- tap, which requires up to four key presses for each letter, depending on the letter that you wish to enter. • For example, to enter "z," press four times in succession.
