If a BS code is found at the beginning of a line, the print position of the next character will be located at the left of the beginning of the line. When there are multiple tab codes in one line, the tab position may be off as a result of automatic line feed. In such case, use the -I or -w option. The number of columns specified by the -w option is not the actual number of printed characters. The actual number of single-byte characters to be printed is derived by deducting the output column position (outcolumns) specified by the o option from the number of columns specified by the -w option.
