Removing the support-bracket assembly

Attention: For proper cooling and airflow, replace the cover before turning on the server. Operating the server with the cover removed might damage server components. Removing the support-bracket assembly When working with some options such as hard disk drives, microprocessors, and memory modules, you must first remove the support-bracket assembly to access the location of the option. Complete the following steps to remove the support-bracket assembly. 1. Review the information in "Before you begin" on page 26 and the safety precautions listed in Statement 1 and Statement 5 in "Safety information" on page 28. 2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect all external cables and power cords; then, remove the side cover. See "Removing the side cover" on page 33 for details. 3. Disconnect the support-bracket assembly fan cable from the connector (SYSFA3) on the system board. For the location of the fan cable connector, see "System board internal cable connectors" on page 24. 4. Locate the end of the support-bracket assembly near the rear of the server. Pull it out approximately 152.4 mm (6 in.). 5. Pull the front end of the support-bracket assembly away from the server and place the assembly aside. 34 IBM xSeries 200: User's Reference

Removing the support-bracket assembly
When working with some options such as hard disk drives, microprocessors, and
memory modules, you must first remove the support-bracket assembly to access the
location of the option.
Complete the following steps to remove the support-bracket assembly.
1.
Review the information in “Before you begin” on page 26 and the safety
precautions listed in Statement 1 and Statement 5 in “Safety information” on page
28.
2.
Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect all external cables and
power cords; then, remove the side cover. See “Removing the side cover” on
page 33 for details.
3.
Disconnect the support-bracket assembly fan cable from the connector (SYSFA3)
on the system board. For the location of the fan cable connector, see “System
board internal cable connectors” on page 24.
4.
Locate the end of the support-bracket assembly near the rear of the server. Pull it
out approximately 152.4 mm (6 in.).
5.
Pull the front end of the support-bracket assembly away from the server and place
the assembly aside.
