Listening to the Radio Using the Tuner With the built-in tuner you can enjoy AM and FM radio stations. You can store your favorite stations as presets for quick selection. Listening to the Radio TUNER Use the [TUNER] input selector button to select either AM or FM. In this example, FM has been selected. Each time you press the [TUNER] but- ton, the input source changes between AM and FM. Band Frequency (Actual display depends on country) Tuning into Radio Stations I Manual Tuning Mode 1 TUNING MODE Press the [TUNING MODE] button so that the AUTO indicator disappears from the display. 2 TUNING PRESET Press and hold the TUNING Up or Down [ ]/[ ] button. The frequency stops changing when you release the button. Press the buttons repeatedly to change the frequency one step at a time. The North American models change FM frequency in 0.2 MHz steps, 10 kHz steps for AM. For other models it's 0.05 MHz steps for FM and 9 kHz steps for AM. In Manual Tuning mode, FM stations will be in mono. Tuning into weak FM stereo stations If the signal from a stereo FM station is weak, it may be impossible to get good reception. In this case, switch to Manual Tuning mode and listen to the station in mono. 12 I Auto Tuning Mode 1 TUNING MODE Press the [TUNING MODE] button so that the AUTO indicator appears on the display. 2 TUNING PRESET Press the TUNING Up or Down [ ]/[ ] button. Searching stops when a station is found. When tuned into a station, the TUNED indicator appears. When tuned into a stereo FM station, the FM STEREO indicator appears on the display, as shown. TUNED AUTO I Tuning into Stations by Frequency You can tune into AM and FM stations directly by entering the appropriate frequency. 1 AMP RECEIVER Press the [RECEIVER] or [AMP] button, followed by the [D TUN] button. D TUN 2 (Actual display depends on country.) The [RECEIVER] or [AMP] button flashes. Within 8 seconds, use the number buttons to enter the frequency of the radio station. For example, to tune to 87.5 (FM), press 8, 7, 5. Note: While the [RECEIVER] or [AMP] button is flashing, the input source cannot be changed by using the remote controller. FM STEREO 48
