09 Additional information HDMI output with DVD-Audio sources DVD-Audio sources often have high sample rates (such as 192kHz/24bit/2 channel or 96kHz/ 24bit/6 channel) and the way they are output from the HDMI terminal will depend on the specification of the connected component. Component/output Component specification HDMI Ver. 1.1 (DVD-Audio and 5.1 channel compatible)*1 HDMI Ver. 1.1 (DVD-Audio and 2 channel compatible)*1 Example Component VSX-74TXVi VSX-72TXV PRO-1130HD PDP-5060HD Format 2 ch 5.1 ch Speakers Audio Output Mode (p.74) 2 ch 5.1 ch*2*3 Set to '5.1 Channel' 2 ch Left/Right or 2 ch downmix*4 Set to '2 Channel' HDMI Ver. 1.1 (Incompatible with PRO-1120HD No No DVD-Audio) or only HDMI Ver. 1.0*1 PDP-5045HD/5050HD sound*4 sound*5 *1 This unit checks the specification of the connected component (such sample rate / multichannel limitations and CPPM compatibility) and outputs the signal accordingly. Note that 'DVD-Audio compatible' indicates compatibility with CPPM (Content Protection for Prerecorded Media). *2 If the Speakers Audio Output Mode (page 74) is set to 2 channel, multichannel sources will be downmixed to stereo. (In cases where the source is downmix-prohibited, it is output as 5.1 channel audio.) *3 If the video output resolution is VGA, 480i, 576i, 480p or 576p, audio output may be limited to 2 channel (depending to the connected component). *4 If the Speakers Audio Output Mode (page 74) is set to 2 channel, multichannel sources will be downmixed to stereo. (In cases where the source is downmix-prohibited, only the front left/right channels are output.) *5 If CPPM shows in the front panel display, it means it is not possible to output CPPM copycontrolled DVD-Audio sources from the HDMI connection. Discs with no CPPM protection are limited to 2 channel output. 84 En
